Three Takeaways from Blueprint Vegas

Conferences are obviously a great way to network, and they’re also an excellent way to learn and stay in the loop with some of the newest innovations in our industry. This week’s Blueprint Vegas certainly delivered on both fronts. The conference, with the tagline, “The Future of Real Estate is Here,” drew more than 2,000 attendees from different industries including real estate, construction, VCs, as well as tech startups – just like us. The broad agenda – covering a wide range of topics from AI and Big Data to Construction and Sustainability – led to many interesting discussions with the people we met there.  Here are our three main takeaways from the conference, and what excites us about the future.

Getting Smart with AI

AI is becoming more widely used and is likely going to pave the way to the future of some companies; in fact, we couldn’t help but notice that the email addresses of more and more startups end in “.ai” But many we spoke with kept the bigger picture in mind.

For example, the use of AI alone is not enough for a company to be successful. Companies must communicate the value of the product or service that’s being provided. In addition, these companies must build trust with their customers by being transparent in how the data is being utilized.

We also heard that AI cannot be used as a short cut to success. The implementation of AI can be a risky foundation to create differentiation. Startups and other companies using AI will have to keep up with the constant changes that are happening with AI and be sure that their teams can move as fast as the AI tech does.

VCs Helping Propel the Real Estate Ecosystem Forward

Despite reports of challenges in the real estate and construction sectors, investors appear to have a positive outlook on the future – and not just in proptech or climate tech. VCs, in fact, were out in force at this conference. The ones we chatted with were excited to find opportunities to deploy capital in innovative ways.

Momentum Around NetZero and Sustainability

It was inspiring to be surrounded by like-minded people concerned with sustainability. The agenda put sustainability front and center, and we felt that energy across everyone we talked with.  Blue Ocean has a deep commitment to sustainability and lessening the negative impacts of the built environment. We enjoyed discussing business opportunities and we have exciting follow up conversations to look forward to in coming weeks.

Blueprint was filled with industry leaders and innovators leading the charge in changing the built world - from design to construction to transaction. We were glad to be a part of it. If we didn’t get the chance to talk, please get in touch to learn more about our advanced software solutions for architects and owners.
